ALWAGHT- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that the fourth round of indirect talks between Tehran and Washington concerning Iran’s nuclear program will take place in Rome this Saturday.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that the next round of indirect talks between Tehran and Washington will be held in Rome, hosted by Oman. Prior to that, Iran will meet with the European troika (UK, France, and Germany) in an effort to maintain their involvement in the negotiations, despite what Araghchi described as their declining influence due to past missteps. He emphasized that Iran remains open to dialogue with Europe and aims to resolve the nuclear issue within a broader international framework.
Araghchi reiterated that the primary negotiations are now focused on the United States, with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) expected to play a significant role if a final agreement is reached. He criticized recent US sanctions as sending a negative signal during ongoing talks, noting that such actions cast doubt on the seriousness of the US side. He also confirmed that Iran’s red lines, including uranium enrichment limits, have been clearly communicated to the Americans.
While no fixed timeline has been set, Araghchi stressed that Iran is not interested in prolonged negotiations. He acknowledged that both sides appear motivated to reach a resolution. Oman has mediated three previous rounds of talks between Iran and the US, which have been described by both parties as constructive and progressing positively toward a possible deal on Iran’s nuclear program and sanctions relief.
