ALWAGHT- Iranian and Russian military commanders discussed plans for enhanced naval cooperation, including joint maritime patrols in the Caspian Sea and Iran’s southern waters.
During a meeting with Russian Deputy Minister of Defense Alexander Fomin, held on the sidelines of the 11th Beijing Xiangshan Forum in China, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, Deputy Chief of the Iranian Army for Coordination, referred to the Caspian Sea as a "sea of peace and friendship."
The Iranian general emphasized the importance of cooperation among the Caspian littoral states to ensure collective security, without the involvement of external powers.
The two officials also discussed expanding naval cooperation between Iran and Russia, including plans for joint maritime patrols and joint naval exercises in both the Caspian Sea and southern waters.
They also discussed strategies to safeguard the strategic interests of both nations in the implementation of the North-South Corridor.
The 11th Beijing Xiangshan Forum took place at the Beijing International Convention Center from September 12 to 14, under the theme "Promoting Peace for a Shared Future."
Participants addressed topics such as the role of Global South countries in international security, enhancing global security frameworks, preserving peace and development in the Asia-Pacific region, and promoting a balanced and orderly multipolar world.
