ALWAGHT- Yemeni Armed Forces has called on civilians and workers to immediately leave areas near Saudi Aramco’s oil installations, warning that the facilities could be targeted in military operations.
Yemeni military spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree warned on Tuesday that Yemen would retaliate against Saudi Arabia for its attacks on the country. He urged civilians and employees to immediately leave areas near Saudi Aramco facilities, declaring the kingdom’s oil infrastructure legitimate military targets. The warning followed an evacuation order issued by the Saudi-led coalition for the Al-Sabaha Central Station of the Yemen Petroleum Company on the outskirts of Sana’a.
Saree cautioned that any attack on the Yemeni capital would prompt a forceful response in Riyadh. He specifically threatened to target Aramco’s headquarters in Dammam, King Khalid Airport in Riyadh and an Aramco refinery in the Saudi capital if the coalition launched strikes on Sana’a. He also renewed warnings for workers to avoid Saudi oil installations and urged airlines, airport personnel and travellers to stay away from previously designated potential targets.
The escalating threats come amid the conflict between Yemen and the Saudi-led coalition, which began its military intervention in 2015. Yemen has developed domestic drone and missile capabilities and carried out attacks on targets deep inside Saudi territory, including energy infrastructure, in response to the coalition’s military campaign and blockade.
