ALWAGHT- Iranian Army Ground Forces commander Brigadier General Ali Jahanshahi said the deployment of more than 51 combat units and the redeployment of 39,000 military personnel during the Ramadan War prevented an enemy ground invasion of Iran.
He said troops were positioned across several regions, including the southwest, West and East Azerbaijan provinces, Sistan and Baluchestan, and the Makran coast, completing their missions despite challenging weather conditions.
Jahanshahi said the adversary had expected airstrikes and the assassination of military commanders to create opportunities for proxy forces and terrorist groups to enter Iranian territory. However, he said the rapid deployment of army and Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) units along the country's borders disrupted that plan.
The commander added that, following the 12-Day War in 2025, Iran's armed forces reviewed battlefield lessons, revised operational strategies, reorganized combat formations and reinforced defensive positions. Readiness exercises at military bases and the strengthening of border deployments were also introduced to address potential threats.
Jahanshahi said the Ground Forces remained prepared to respond to any aggression, citing their mobile assault brigades, rapid-response units, special forces and mechanized formations. He emphasized that protecting Iran's territorial integrity, national interests and security remained a central responsibility of the armed forces following the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
