ALWAGHT- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says Tehran is taking steps to address the remaining challenges to securing membership in the BRICS New Development Bank, while pointing to the increasing international interest in conducting transactions in national currencies.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said during the BRICS summit in New Delhi that Tehran would work to resolve remaining obstacles to joining the BRICS New Development Bank. He described BRICS as an important platform for strengthening economic and financial cooperation among member states.
Araghchi also stressed the importance of expanding economic ties within BRICS and increasing the use of national currencies in trade. He said discussions on the issue at the BRICS Business Council had drawn considerable international attention.
The foreign minister added that President Masoud Pezeshkian was holding bilateral talks with leaders from India, Malaysia and Ethiopia, with economic, bilateral and regional issues high on the agenda. He said Iran’s growing engagement with Muslim and regional countries was evident throughout the president’s diplomatic meetings.
