Everyone Opposes the War—Except Those Who Created It

ALWAGHT- Growing opposition to the US-Israeli war against Iran, launched on February 28, has reached a critical point, as mounting global outrage, soaring domestic inflation, and growing political resistance turn Washington’s illegal assault into an increasingly disastrous campaign.

What was promised as a swift US victory has become a prolonged and costly conflict, fueling growing opposition in Washington and across the country. Democratic lawmakers have criticized the administration’s portrayal of the war, warning of mounting casualties, rising food and fuel prices, and the risk of another endless Middle East conflict.

Pressure is also building within the US military. Reports of investigations into leaks about depleted ammunition stocks, growing operational strain, and senior military resignations point to serious problems within the Pentagon. Meanwhile, intelligence assessments suggest Iran has become more confident in its ability to strike US forces and sustain a prolonged confrontation.

The war is also imposing a growing economic burden on Americans, with gasoline prices expected to remain above $4 per gallon. Public opposition is increasing as inflation and energy costs weigh on households, while President Trump faces declining approval ahead of the November midterm elections. European governments, meanwhile, have largely refused to join the military campaign and are themselves confronting economic repercussions.

As Western unity weakens, Russia and China have reaffirmed their support for Iran and condemned US-Israeli actions. Iran maintains that it remains capable of resisting the campaign with backing from key international partners, while Washington faces mounting military, economic, diplomatic and domestic political pressures.
