Iran Warns It Will Retaliate Against Any Aggressive Acts

ALWAGHT- Speaking at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Kyrgyzstan on Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reaffirmed that Iran reserves the right to retaliate against any acts of aggression.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran has never initiated a war and reaffirmed that Tehran reserves the right to retaliate against any acts of aggression in line with international law. Addressing the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers meeting, he stressed that lasting regional peace depends on respect for international law, diplomacy and an end to double standards.

Araghchi criticized the United States and Israel over attacks on Iran, including strikes on civilian infrastructure and nuclear facilities under IAEA supervision. He also warned that foreign involvement in security arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz threatens the stability of the strategic waterway, arguing that regional security should be ensured through cooperation among neighboring states.

The Iranian foreign minister called on the SCO to play a stronger role in defending multilateralism, sovereignty and the rule of law while expanding regional economic cooperation, trade and transport links. He also condemned Israeli attacks on Lebanon and the humanitarian situation in Gaza, urging an immediate end to military operations against civilians and greater humanitarian assistance.
