ALWAGHT- Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi criticized Washington’s threat of military action against Venezuela and its destabilizing actions in the Caribbean, describing them as a flagrant breach of international law and the UN Charter.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made the remarks during a phone call with his Venezuelan counterpart, Yvan Gil, in which they reviewed bilateral relations and recent developments in the Caribbean. Araghchi highlighted the strong ties between Tehran and Caracas and reaffirmed the commitment of both countries’ leaders to further expand cooperation.
Araghchi condemned US actions affecting maritime security in the Caribbean and Washington’s threat to use force against Venezuela, describing them as a clear violation of international law and the UN Charter. He expressed Iran’s solidarity with the Venezuelan people and government, urging the international community to oppose what he called illegal and destabilizing actions.
Venezuela’s foreign minister thanked Iran for its support and reiterated Caracas’s determination to defend its sovereignty and independence. Both sides stressed the need for closer bilateral and multilateral coordination in international forums to counter unilateralism and protect national sovereignty.
