ALWAGHT- Iran’s nuclear chief announced that agreements with Russia on constructing more nuclear power plants will be signed during his visit to Moscow.
Iranian nuclear chief Mohammad Eslami arrived in Moscow leading a delegation to participate in World Atomic Week events from September 25–29. He announced that under an existing contract with Russia, eight nuclear power plants will be built, including four in Bushehr, and that preparations for the remaining sites have been completed. Once the agreements are finalized this week, the operational phase for design and engineering will begin.
Eslami also addressed Iran’s stance on cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), criticizing the European E3 group (Britain, France, and Germany) for undermining the UN and international organizations. He argued that their actions prevent global peace and highlighted the IAEA’s failure to condemn recent attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities as evidence of deep “destructive influence” within the agency. He reiterated that Iran remains compliant with IAEA safeguards and will continue its peaceful nuclear activities.
The Iranian official condemned attacks on Iran’s nuclear sites in June, including Israeli strikes and subsequent US bombings, calling them violations of international law and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. He also rejected the European troika’s triggering of the UN “snapback” mechanism as illegitimate, accusing the E3 of siding with sanctions rather than honoring their commitments under the 2015 JCPOA nuclear deal.
