Alwaght- An explosion rocked the largest US airbase in Afghanistan, Bagram, killing at least four American troops and injuring 18 more, Tolo News reported.
"It Taliban claimed the responsibility for the explosion that hit Bagram Airfield this morning just after 5:30 am (0100 GMT).
Local media said a man dressed as a laborer gained access to the heavily-protected compound before detonating an explosive vest.
Bagram district governor Abdul Shakoor Quddusi said the explosion was so powerful that it reverberated across the area.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the attack in a message on his Twitter account.
The airbase in Bagram close to the capital Kabul has frequently come under attack by Taliban militants. A militant detonated his explosives near the base last December, killing six US soldiers.
