Hezbollah Protected Lebanon against Regional Conflicts: Nasrullah

Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrullah

The Hezbollah resistance movement has protected Lebanon against the consequences of the ongoing regional conflicts

Alwaght- Hezbollah has protected Lebanon against the consequences of the ongoing regional conflicts, the movement’s Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrullah said on Saturday.

The resistance movement leader also called on all parties and responsible bodies to make sufficient efforts to safeguard the current stability in the Lebanon.

Nasrullah demanded an improved role by the government for better internal security that would allow people run a normal life and let job opportunities emerge and economy flourish.

During his televised speech from eastern town of Hermel, the secretary general added that the recent activities by extremist terrorists in the Beqaa Valley are a grave concern.

Sayyed Nasrallah called on the people and the government of Lebanon to accomplish their part of duties so that security could be guaranteed in the region.

“Some of the developments are related to economic situation and standard of living, but poverty is not the primary motive behind crimes but greed. If we go back to the root causes of crimes in Lebanon, we see that there are many and varied reasons. It is simplistic to assume that the reason for killings and security incidents in our region is the economic and living conditions,” Nasrallah pointed out.

He called upon the Lebanese government to honor its duties regarding the Beqaa region, and round up the provocateurs and criminals.

Terrorists have been active in the Lebanese southern Beqaa Valley recently and Hezbollah is fighting such groups to prevent their infiltration to other parts of the country.

The group is also fighting terrorist and militant groups in the neighboring Syria in order to prevent their development into Lebanon.

In another part of his speech, he expressed hope that a new chapter would open in Lebanon’s politics, where all sides would undertake endeavors to work out solutions to domestic issues.

Lebanon has been without a president for more than two years, when the term of last president, Michel Suleiman, came to an end in May 2014.

Hezbollah has accused Saudi Arabia of opposing political initiatives and obstructing the election of a president in Lebanon.
