ALWAGHT- Following Iran's latest proposal, a former Obama advisor says President Trump has another chance to exit the war with Iran via negotiations.
Vali Nasr, a former Obama administration advisor and international affairs analyst, wrote on X that the current stalemate between the US and Iran is unsustainable, raising the possibility of a return to war. However, he noted that Iran has now put forward a new proposal, giving President Trump another chance to negotiate his way out of the conflict. Nasr added that this opportunity comes with the added factor of what Trump heard and learned during his recent visit to China.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei previously stated that after Iran presented a 14-point plan and the US raised its considerations, Iran received amendatory points from a Pakistani mediator. Iran's viewpoints have since been reflected back to the US, and the process continues via Pakistan, with the Iranian text focusing on ending the war and establishing confidence-building measures with the US. Notably, on February 27 of last year, while indirect talks were underway, the US and the Zionist regime launched an aggression against Iran, prompting Iran to carry out Operation True Promise 4 in self-defense, targeting US bases in the region and specific targets within the occupied territories.
