In a phone call between President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan, the leaders discussed the latest regional developments and issues related to the ceasefire, as well as the ongoing Iran-US negotiations in Islamabad.
President Pezeshkian expressed appreciation for Pakistan's sustained efforts to promote peace in the region and thanked both the prime minister and Pakistan's army chief for their support of diplomatic initiatives. He criticized the US for its continued violations and coercive behavior during the negotiations and ceasefire period, specifically calling out Washington's maritime restrictions on Iran as a breach of the ceasefire understandings and inconsistent with the United Nations Charter.
President Pezeshkian also expressed concerns about renewed confrontation by the US and Israel, highlighting potential consequences for both regional and global stability. He reaffirmed Tehran's determination to defend its national security and emphasized the importance of building and strengthening relationships with neighboring countries based on good neighborliness and mutual respect.
Prime Minister Sharif briefed President Pezeshkian on Pakistan's recent diplomatic engagements with regional governments, reiterating his country's commitment to helping end hostilities and supporting peace initiatives.
