ALWAGHT- Iran's Constitutional Council Spokesperson accuses foreign interference of co-opting peaceful protests and inciting violence.
Iran's Constitutional Council Spokesperson Hadi Tahan Nazif addressed recent violent riots in Iran, expressing condolences for the martyrdom of security forces and civilians during peaceful protests concerning economic issues.
One observer from the Constitutional Council was among those martyred during the unrest.
Tahan Nazif accused foreign interference of turning peaceful protests into violent riots, noting that hostile elements were responsible for the deaths of over 1,000 Iranians during the 12-day war in June 2025.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei condemned the destruction caused by vandals during the protests, stating that they were acting to appease the US president and warned against mercenary attitudes towards foreign powers. He encouraged unity among the Iranian people to overcome adversity.
