Israeli Forces Kill Young Palestinian, Arrest Two in West Bank Raids

ALWAGHT- As Israeli forces intensified their operations throughout the West Bank, they fatally shot a Palestinian man and took two others into custody, while also carrying out several demolitions in the occupied region.

Israeli forces raided the village of Tell near Nablus on Friday evening, surrounding a home before firing live rounds and stun grenades. Inside, they shot and killed 24-year-old Younes Waleed Mohammad Shtayyeh, a member of the Palestinian police, according to local officials. His father was brought in to identify him, after which Israeli troops removed the body and withdrew. The Palestinian Red Crescent said its medics were blocked from reaching Shtayyeh before he died.

In separate incidents, Israeli forces abducted two young men—one near al-Far’a refugee camp south of Tubas and another from Khirbet Humsa al-Fouqa in the northern Jordan Valley. Dozens more Palestinians were detained in al-Khalil governorate, where soldiers stormed neighborhoods, raided homes, and subjected residents to field interrogations and physical assaults. More than 30 Palestinians in Beit Ummar were held for hours in the yard of a brick factory after widespread raids.

These developments come amid growing international scrutiny. In July 2024, the International Court of Justice issued an advisory opinion declaring Israel’s decades-long occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and calling for the evacuation of settlements in the West Bank and East al-Quds. Though not legally binding, the ruling is regarded as highly significant due to its political and moral weight.
