Kiev Removes Justice Minister Over Corruption Linked to Zelensky Aide

ALWAGHT- Ukraine’s Justice Minister, German Galushchenko, has been fired amid a major corruption scandal connected to President Volodymyr Zelensky’s aide, Timur Mindich.

Ukraine’s government has dismissed Justice Minister German Galushchenko following a major corruption scandal involving businessman Timur Mindich, a close associate of President Zelensky. Deputy Minister Liudmyla Suhak has been appointed acting justice minister. The case comes amid revelations linking senior officials to illicit financial activities and manipulation of state contracts, raising concerns over widespread corruption in Kiev’s administration.

Opposition figures claim the scandal exposes systemic wrongdoing within Zelensky’s inner circle. Viktor Medvedchuk accused the president’s team of extorting businesses, manipulating markets, and using mobilization measures to seize assets. Leaked materials suggest long-term profiteering by top officials, with Zelensky allegedly acting as a frontman while his associates enriched themselves. Meanwhile, Ihor Myronyuk, a former advisor to Galushchenko, reportedly attempted to destroy evidence during an investigation into corruption in Ukraine’s energy sector.

The fallout highlights ongoing high-level corruption issues under Zelensky’s presidency. Myronyuk and his wife hold foreign assets and have reportedly interfered with investigations using their influence. He faces up to 12 years in prison and potential property confiscation. The scandal compounds scrutiny over Ukraine’s governance, particularly as the country relies heavily on international financial and military support, and follows previous cases of defense procurement fraud, energy-sector kickbacks, and attempts to weaken anti-corruption agencies.
