Airstrikes By Israel Continue in Gaza, With Homes Demolished Despite Ceasefire Agreement

ALWAGHT- The Israeli army launched air raids on Khan Younis in southern Gaza, while bulldozers continued demolishing homes despite a fragile ceasefire with Hamas.

Israeli forces carried out demolitions of homes in Gaza, including areas east of Gaza City, Rafah, and Khan Younis, late Friday into early Saturday. The United Nations estimates that 92 percent of Gaza’s residential buildings have been damaged or destroyed since Israel’s assault began.

As part of ceasefire terms between Israel and Hamas, the Palestinian armed group Islamic Jihad handed over the body of a deceased captive, identified by Israel as Lior Rudaeff, killed during the 7 October 2023 attack on Nir Yitzhak. Hamas transferred the remains to the Red Cross, which then passed them to the Israeli military in Gaza.

Meanwhile, Hamas has denounced a new wave of attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinian farmers in the West Bank, often carried out under army protection. Several farmers, journalists, and foreign volunteers were injured during these assaults, which Hamas says aim to displace Palestinians and destroy their livelihoods.

Hamas officials described the targeting of farmland, particularly during the olive harvest, as part of a broader annexation and displacement plan. They emphasized that Palestinians will continue to cling to their land and called on the international community to act against what they describe as Israel’s support for settler violence and violations of international law.
