ALWAGHT- In Sistan and Baluchestan, Iranian police forces eliminated eight foreign-backed terrorists linked to a recent deadly assault on law enforcement, marking a significant setback for militant groups in the region.
Iranian police forces, supported by intelligence and security units, conducted a successful operation in Sistan and Baluchestan on Wednesday, eliminating eight militants involved in recent attacks. Police spokesman General Saeed Montazer al-Mahdi confirmed that the operation resulted in the recovery of a large cache of weapons and ammunition.
The crackdown followed an August 22 assault in which five Iranian law enforcement officers were killed after terrorists targeted two police patrol units in Iranshahr County. The Jaish al-Adl terrorist group claimed responsibility for the deadly ambush. Just weeks earlier, on July 26, members of the same group stormed the provincial courthouse in Zahedan, killing six civilians—including a mother and her infant child—and injuring 24 others.
Sistan and Baluchestan, a province bordering Pakistan, has long been a hotspot for terrorist attacks against both civilians and security forces. Authorities believe that militant groups operating in the region, including Jaish al-Adl, maintain ties with foreign intelligence services. The province has seen multiple deadly incidents, including an October 26 attack last year in Taftan County that left ten law enforcement officers dead, one of the bloodiest in recent memory.
