ALWAGHT- Kim Jong Un has supervised the trial of a new North Korean defense system touted for its “superior combat capability.”
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un personally supervised the test-firing of two newly developed missile types on Saturday, state media reported. According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the weapons are said to feature “superior combat capability” and a “unique technology,” though no technical specifications were disclosed.
The test comes as Pyongyang continues to strengthen ties with Moscow amid Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine. Since the start of Russia’s “special military operation” in February 2022, North Korea has increasingly aligned itself with the Kremlin, providing political backing and deepening cooperation.
In June of last year, Kim and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a mutual defense treaty obligating both nations to support one another if attacked. During his visits to Russia, Kim has repeatedly pressed for closer relations, highlighting the strategic partnership between the two isolated states.
