Long-Term Political Cooperation Framework Agreement to Be Signed by Iran and Oman

ALWAGHT- According to Iran’s Ambassador to Oman, one of the most significant agreements to be signed during President Masoud Pezeshkian’s visit to Muscat is the Long-Term Political Cooperation Framework, setting the roadmap for Iran-Oman collaboration in the coming years.

Iranian Ambassador to Oman Mousa Farhang detailed President Masoud Pezeshkian’s upcoming visit to Muscat on July 27, 2025, highlighting its political and economic importance. The visit, following previous high-level exchanges, aims to strengthen bilateral ties amid Oman’s key role as a mediator in Iran-US talks. Farhang noted that around 25,000 Iranians live in Oman, with trade between the two countries exceeding $2.5 billion.

During the two-day visit, at least 14 cooperation agreements are expected to be signed, including a major long-term political cooperation framework. President Pezeshkian will meet with Sultan Haitham and senior officials, engage with the Iranian community, and participate in a business forum to promote economic collaboration across multiple sectors.

The ambassador emphasized the steady growth in Iran-Oman trade over the past decade—from $200 million to $2.5 billion—attributing this to a strategic, long-term approach. The visit will also include a symbolic trip to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, which represents the friendship between the two peoples through its Persian-inspired architecture and Iranian carpet.
