Brother and nephews of late Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar killed in Israeli airstrike on Gaza

ALWAGHT- A brother of the late Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was reportedly killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting central Gaza.

Media reports from Gaza state that Zakaria Sinwar, a university lecturer and brother of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, was killed along with three of his children in an Israeli airstrike on their tent in the Nuseirat refugee camp. Sinwar had been a professor of modern and contemporary history at the Islamic University in Gaza.

Separately, Saudi news network al-Hadath claimed that the body of Mohammed Sinwar, Hamas’s Gaza leader, was found in a tunnel in Khan Yunis, along with ten aides and Mohammed Shabana, a commander in Hamas’s military wing. There was no indication that Hamas military spokesperson Abu Ubaida was present at the time.

Since the collapse of the ceasefire on March 18, Israel has intensified its bombardment of Gaza, causing mass casualties. Over 53,000 Palestinians—mostly women and children—have been killed and more than 121,000 injured since October 7, 2023. The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Israeli officials over alleged war crimes, while Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice.
