Araghchi: Iran Has Right to Complete Nuclear Fuel Cycle

ALWAGHT- Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s right to maintain the full nuclear fuel cycle, stating that Tehran is entitled to enrich uranium while rejecting nuclear weapons—just as several other NPT member states do.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that he prefers not to publicly discuss the core elements of negotiations but emphasized that repeating misinformation does not alter fundamental truths. He reaffirmed Iran’s right to the full nuclear fuel cycle as a founding member of the NPT, noting that several other nations enrich uranium without pursuing nuclear weapons.

Araghchi criticized the use of extreme positions and provocative rhetoric, warning that such tactics only harm the prospects for successful negotiations. He asserted that a fair and lasting agreement is possible if there is sufficient political will and balanced engagement from all parties.

His remarks followed the postponement of the fourth round of indirect Iran-US talks, originally set for May 3. Previous rounds were held in Muscat and Rome throughout April, with Oman mediating efforts to reach a deal on Iran’s nuclear program and lifting of sanctions.
