ALWAGHT- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the latest round of sanctions-relief talks with the United States ended with agreement on a framework of guiding principles for future negotiations toward a possible deal.
Araghchi said the latest talks in Geneva were serious and more constructive than previous rounds, with multiple proposals reviewed in depth. He confirmed that both sides agreed on a set of guiding principles that will form the basis for drafting a potential deal, marking what he described as “good progress.”
He cautioned that a final agreement will take time, as technical work on the text will be complex and detailed. While no date has been set for the next round, the parties plan to exchange draft texts before deciding when to resume talks, and differences remain to be resolved.
The three-hour indirect talks, held at the Omani ambassador’s residence, took place amid heightened regional tensions and increased US military deployments. Tehran has warned it would respond decisively to any new military action, stressing that diplomacy remains possible but fragile under current conditions.
