ALWAGHT- Millions of Iranians took part in nationwide rallies on the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, reaffirming their commitment to the vision of Imam Khomeini, who overthrew the US-backed monarchy in 1979.
Millions rallied nationwide despite snow and rain to mark 47 years since the Islamic Revolution. In Tehran, President Pezeshkian spoke at Azadi Square, as protesters condemned US and Israeli aggression and remembered war martyrs and victims of foreign-backed riots. Thousands of reporters covered the event, pushing back against Western skepticism over turnout size.
The anniversary came after Ayatollah Khamenei’s call for unity against enemies. It followed January riots—initially over economic issues but infiltrated by militants—that Tehran blames on US and Israeli support. More than 3,100 people died, most of them civilians and police.
Displayed at the rallies: burnt cars from the riots, missiles, captured Israeli drone wreckage, and Qur’ans raised after recent desecration. Chants of “Truth does not burn” filled the air as marchers demonstrated revolutionary loyalty through symbols and slogans.
A statement from the crowd described the massive presence as a sign of Iran’s political insight and endurance in the face of hybrid war. It stressed that national solidarity and trust in the Islamic system are key to countering threats. The day commemorated the 1979 overthrow of the US-backed Pahlavi monarchy, when the military joined the Revolution on February 11.
