ALWAGHT- The UN agency for Palestinian refugees reports that Israeli raids across the West Bank have caused the "largest population displacement" since the 1967 war, which resulted in the occupation of Palestinian territory.
The UNRWA reports that Israeli attacks over recent weeks have displaced at least 40,000 people, primarily from refugee camps in the occupied West Bank. This marks the largest population displacement since the 1967 war, with the assault being the longest Israeli aggression in the West Bank since the second Palestinian Intifada.
The agency warns that Israeli military statements suggest the offensive will continue, preventing Palestinians from returning to their camps. The situation has been exacerbated by threats of demolition, evacuation orders, and the use of militarized tactics, including tanks.
In addition to the displacement, Israeli forces shot and critically injured a Palestinian near Tarqumiyah in the southern West Bank. Since Israel's offensive began in January 2021, at least 930 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 7,000 injured in the West Bank, following Israel's broader escalation of violence since the October 7, 2023 war on Gaza.
