ALWAGHT- The Iranian Foreign Ministry has firmly condemned Canada's latest sanctions on the Islamic Republic, calling them "deceptive" and a "breach of international law."
Iranian Foreign Ministry official Issa Kameli strongly condemned Canada’s latest sanctions, calling them unlawful, illegitimate, and a violation of human rights. He criticized Canada for imposing these measures under the pretext of human rights while violating international laws and the principles of the UN Charter. The sanctions, announced on Friday, target seven individuals and entities allegedly linked to weapons production, which Ottawa claims are being supplied to Russia for use in Ukraine. Canada also justified the move by accusing Iran of human rights violations and destabilizing activities.
Kameli rejected these accusations, emphasizing that Canada itself is complicit in human rights abuses, particularly its support for Israel’s actions in Gaza. He held Canada accountable for its role in what he described as genocide and war crimes against the Palestinian people. Addressing the claims about Iran’s involvement in the Ukraine conflict, he firmly denied them, stating that repeating false accusations does not make them true. Iran, he reiterated, remains opposed to war and advocates for diplomatic solutions to conflicts.
The Iranian official urged Canada to focus on addressing its own domestic and international shortcomings, particularly its historical and ongoing mistreatment of indigenous populations. He also criticized Western sanctions on Iran, which have intensified under the Trump administration’s “maximum pressure” campaign, describing them as a form of hybrid warfare that has severely impacted Iran’s economy. Iran continues to resist these measures, condemning them as politically motivated and unjust.
