Iran Unveils Enhanced Version of Its Air Defense System

ALWAGHT- On Sunday, the Iranian Defense Ministry revealed an enhanced version of the domestically developed 'Bavar 373' air defense missile system.

The "Bavar 373-II" images were released during a visit by President Masoud Pezeshkian to an exhibition showcasing the achievements of the Defense Ministry’s Aerospace Organization on Sunday.

The upgraded version of the Iranian air defense system features launcher stations equipped with separate radar sets for detecting and tracking targets, as well as fire control, enabling each launcher to operate independently without relying on a central radar.

A Bavar 373-II battery includes a detection radar set with six transporter erector launchers and radars (TELARs), allowing the engagement control station to independently counter hostile targets. The original Bavar 373 system had a detection range of 320 kilometers, a tracking range of 260 kilometers, and a missile range of 200 kilometers. The Bavar 373-II's engagement range has now been increased to 300 kilometers with the use of ‘Sayyad 4B’ missiles. The system can track 60 targets simultaneously and engage six targets at once.

The Bavar 373-II system is built to safeguard major cities and vital infrastructure from various aerial threats, such as advanced stealth aircraft and ballistic missiles. Its development highlights Iran's increasing self-reliance in defense technology and its dedication to strengthening national security.
