ALWAGHT- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi had highly productive and insightful discussions with Pakistani officials during his visit to Islamabad, according to Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei.
In a post on his X account Tuesday night, Esmaeil Baqaei praised the "very useful, comprehensive, and insightful discussions" held by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi during his visit to Pakistan.
Baqaei reported that Araqchi met with high-ranking Pakistani officials, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, and Chief of Army Staff General Sayed Asim Munir Ahmed Shah, to discuss "bilateral relations between the two neighboring Muslim nations and the critical situation in the region."
"We are pleased and proud that our two nations, as key members of the Islamic Ummah with deeply rooted historical, cultural, and religious ties, share common views on the opportunities and challenges we face locally and globally," Baqaei added.
"We are both committed to enhancing coordination and cooperation at all levels to identify and seize opportunities for the benefit of our nations, as well as to confront challenges together," he said.
The spokesperson emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral ties in economic, trade, energy, border security, and counter-terrorism, areas both sides fully support.
He also commended Pakistan's longstanding position on the Palestinian cause, its support for Palestinian self-determination, and its condemnation of Israel's recent actions against Iran.
"The ministers highlighted the upcoming OIC Summit in Riyadh as a crucial opportunity to mobilize Islamic and global solidarity to leverage collective capacities in halting Israeli aggression and curbing its warmongering behavior in the region," Baqaei concluded.
