International Atomic Energy Agency has approved a political resolution targeting Iran

ALWAGHT- In a political maneuver, the International Atomic Energy Agency adopted a resolution targeting Iran.

Today (Thursday), the resolution proposed by three European JCPOA members concerning Iran's nuclear program was approved by the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency, with 20 votes in favor, 2 against, and 12 abstentions.

As reported by Reuters, diplomats have indicated that in this resolution, put forth by the UK, France, and Germany, Iran is called upon to enhance its cooperation with the agency and reconsider its move to revoke the appointment of experienced inspectors.

The resolution further claims that Iran has breached its obligations under the Non-Proliferation Treaty.

"Ali Bagheri Kani," Iran's Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, asserted today during the Cabinet meeting sidelines, "The Agency operates as a technical body, and we expect all nations, including Board of Governors members, to adhere to its technical approach. The misuse of the Agency's capabilities for political agendas by some member states will undermine its identity, role, and specialized functions."

The Acting Foreign Minister stressed, "We consistently urge governments to uphold the Agency's technical and specialized mandate, avoiding its politicization due to external failures and setbacks."

Bagheri further remarked, "We've continuously possessed diverse capacities under the NPT and the JCPOA framework. Whenever it aligns with the country's interests and the International Atomic Energy Agency's priorities, relevant capacities will be mobilized."
