Alwaght- An illegal military facility housing US occupation forces in Syria’s eastern province of Dayr al-Zawr has come under a rocket attack from nearby areas amid growing anti-US sentiments over Washington’s support for the Israeli onslaught on Gaza, Iran's Press TV reported.

Lebanon’s Arabic-language al-Mayadeen television news network, citing local sources, reported that several explosions were heard in the area close to the US-controlled al-Omar oil field on Thursday evening after several projectiles struck the site.

There were no immediate reports about possible casualties or the extent of damage at the installation.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella group of anti-terror fighters, has claimed responsibility for most of the retaliatory strikes on US military bases in Iraq and neighboring Syria.

Israel launched hostilities in Gaza following a historic operation by the Gaza-based Hamas resistance group against the occupying entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

Nearly 140 days into the campaign, the regime has achieved no objectives despite killing at least 29,410 people in Gaza, around 70 percent of them women and children. Another 69,465 individuals have been wounded as well.

The United States has supplied Israel with weapons and intelligence support and blocked UN resolutions calling for a humanitarian ceasefire in the Palestinian territory.
