Turkish FM Visits Iran, Meets Iranian Counterpart

Alwaght- Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has arrived in Iran and met his Iranian counterpart Hussein Amir-Abdollahian.

The two sides discussed bilateral ties and exchanged views on a range of issues during their meeting in Tehran.

Fidan is on his first visit to Tehran since his appointment as Turkey’s foreign minister in June.

The top Turkish diplomat is expected to meet other Iranian officials and discuss bilateral ties as well as regional developments.

“The visit will render the opportunity to discuss the possibilities for further advancing our bilateral cooperation in all fields with Iran and to exchange views on current regional and international developments,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a press release on Saturday.

This visit provides an opportunity to discuss the “possibilities for further advancing our bilateral cooperation in all fields” and exchange views on current regional and international developments, the statement said.

Back in June, Amir-Abdollahian called newly-appointed Turkish Foreign Hakan Fidan to congratulate him on his post in Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s freshly-formed cabinet.

At the time, Amir-Abdollahian invited Fidan to visit Tehran, stressing the need for the expediting of the development of bilateral ties.
