Iran FM Reiterates Support for Syria Stability

Alwaght- Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-abdollahian renewed support for Syria’s stability, tranquility and territorial integrity ahead of a visit to the Arab country.

In a post on his X account on Wednesday, Amirabdollahian said he is going to visit Damascus in order to promote Iran’s policy of interaction with the neighboring region and speed up the implementation of agreements concluded by the Iranian and Syrian presidents.

“Iran stresses the necessity of establishing stability and calm and maintaining Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he underlined.

The Iranian FM noted that his talks with senior Syrian officials will revolve around the latest regional and international developments.

Upon his arrival, the FM met the Prime Minister Hussein Arnous and discussed bilateral ties. 

The two discussed cooperation in various areas as Syria has already started its reconstruction period and insists on having Iran as a partner to the process. 

The FM referred to the comprehensive cooperation roadmap set between the two countries, saying that it will facilitate the efforts to boost relations at all levels. 

For his part, Syrian PM thanked Iran for staunch support in the difficulty days of the fight against terrorism, saying that the relations between the two countries are deep-rooted, friendly and brotherly. 

“Syria won over 12 years of pressure and war, and now the enemies of the Syrian nation are trying to continue pressure on the government and the Syrian nation by imposing sanctions and economic pressure on Syria,” he went on. 

The PM also congratulated Iran for its accession to the BRICS, saying that it indicates the high Iranian economic capacities and diplomatic power. 

He further voiced support for Iranian-Saudi closeness, saying that it will benefit the whole region.
