Alwaght- More than 90 countries on Monday called on Israel to lift sanctions the occupying regime has imposed on Palestinian Authority (PA) over its push for an investigation into Tel Aviv's crimes against Palestinian nation.
Late last month, the UN General Assembly approved a Palestinian-sponsored resolution asking the International Court of Justice to probe Israeli regime's “annexation” of Palestinian territories.
After the resolution was passed, Israeli regime, in a retaliatory measure, decided to withdraw funds from the PA for the benefit of Israeli terror victims, including revoking the PA Foreign Minister’s special travel authorization and denying benefits to certain Palestinian officials.
The statement released on Monday was signed by representatives of Arab nations and the 57-member Organization for Islamic Cooperation and 37 other countries – 27 of them from Europe including Germany, France and Italy, as well as Japan, South Korea, Brazil, Mexico and South Africa.
The countries expressed "deep concern" about the retaliatory measures and called for an immediate reversal.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also on Monday expressed concern about Israel's actions against the PA.
