Alwaght- Taking smart measures, Yemen’s resistant movement Ansarullah has managed to doom the Saudi atrocious airstrikes to failure, pushing Riyadh’s regime to retreat from its greedy demands.
Saudi Arabia’s attacks started eight months ago and they are still underway. Many of the political observers believe that Yemeni air force's capabilities and the plan to engage Ansarullah in fighting with pro-Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi and Al-Qaeda terrorist group’s fighters in Southern Yemen were the main factors motivating Saudi Arabia to choose military option against Yemen. Many others say that the main motive for launching a war against Yemen was the Saudi prince Mohammad bin Salam Al Saud’s ideals to fix his leadership in the country. But, after several months since the beginning of offensive, Al Saud’s objectives are now altered. Currently, the aim is to block Ansarullah movement’s advances (both in Yemeni fronts and in Saudi territories.)
At the start of aggression against Yemen, Saudi Arabia received a lot of help from ground forces of Egypt, Pakistan, the UAE and Bahrain, and in enacting the UN resolution 2216, Riyadh went to great lengths to secure for itself the upper hand in Yemen. The resolution 2216 has not pointed to the Saudi aggression but it demanded that Ansarullah’s forces pull out of the Yemeni capital Sana'a and other cities. According to the resolution, Ansarullah movement has to refrain from threatening Yemen’s neighbors by missile attacks and Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, the ousted president, should return to power. Saudi Arabia was hopeful that all the pressures drive the resistant movement towards retreating and handing over Yemen’s administration to Riyadh, however, it never happened.
Six months after adoption of the resolution 2216 the administration of the situation has slipped out of Riyadh’s control and even UN’s Secretary General Ban Ki Moon is now making moves to settle the Yemeni crisis out of the framework of the resolution 2216. Moon has talked about Muscat’s peace plan, saying that Ansarullah has accepted the peace terms. The plan could potentially settle the Yemeni conflict, but it was rejected by Saudi Arabia, because the plan was to prove that after several months of heavy bombardment on Yemen and using foreign mercenaries by Riyadh in the battlefield, Ansarullah movement still has the upper hand on the ground.
Muscat’s plan is not only a proof for Ansarullah legitimacy but also it substantiates the legitimacy of the movement in northern Yemen, as it proves legitimacy of the domination of the Southern Movement, which is involved in fight against Saudi Arabia, in southern Yemen. The aim of Muscat plan is to present a political resolution to Yemen’s crisis. The plan’s terms include designating Khaled Bahah as Prime Minister and forming a government within the coming 60 days. Moreover, the Muscat plan demands removing air, sea and land blockade of Yemen, as it implicitly calls for ceasefire and retreat of Saudi military fores.
The observers believe that such a drastic change of the equations in Yemen’s conflict comes as a result of Ansarullah’s caution along with the role played by the regional players, as change of game taken place in the Syrian war in favor of the Axis of Resistance have positively influenced the Yemeni developments.
Regional players’ role
The Russian direct entrance to the Syrian war has had a considerable influence on enhancing the Resistance front’s capabilities and led in building up pressure on Saudi Arabia as the major supporter of the terrorists in Syria. On the other hand, Riyadh has started to suffer from economic troubles caused by falling oil prices and the heavy cost of war, thereby, it is seeking an honorable way out of the Yemeni quagmire.
Mujtahed, the famous Saudi Twitter activist, who reveals secrets of the Al Saud ruling family, has said that the US asked Saudi Arabia to end Yemen’s war as soon as possible and accept Muscat’s plan and exit from Yemen. Also, two weeks ago, the UN Secretary General has met the Saudi King, insisting that the kingdom accedes to the peace plan.
Ansarullah’s caution
It can be said that making a deal with Yemen’s Southern Movement to hand over the administration of the country’s south to the movement has been the smartest move so far taken by Ansarullah. Beside finding an opportunity to gain control of Yemen’s north, Ansarullah has figured out that such a move could ease the pressure on its fighters and invalidate the charges that the movement tries to monopolize the power, as it could strengthen the possibility of success of the peace plan between the Yemeni sides.
Another intelligent move taken by Ansarullah movement is not acceding to the resolution 2216 at the beginning of war and then entering a poloitical deal based on which the movement exposed that Saudi Arabia or other adversaries were unable to find and arrange for a political solution. Ansarullah is presently making efforts to organize the Yemeni parties and Khaled Bahah against Saudi Arabia.
Still another reasons leading to Ansarullah securing of a supremacy was its wariness in Marib battle in which it killed many of the Saudi-led coalition's troops, specifically Emirati troops. Currently, everybody is ensured that Ansarullah's smartness led in the Arab coalition's defeat. The coalition no more sees its pivotal interests in Yemen. Saudi Arabia is now deserted in Yemen and everybody is wating to see it retreat and pull out of Yemen's quagmire.
