Yemen’s Ansarullah Launch New Retaliatory Drone Strike against Saudi Air Base

Yemen’s Ansarullah Launch New Retaliatory Drone Strike against Saudi Air Base

Alwaght- Yemen's Ansarullah resistance forces launched another drone strike on a major airbase in Saudi Arabia’s southern region of Asir in retaliation for the kingdom’s military aggression and blockade against the impoverished country.

A domestically-manufactured Qasef-2K (Striker-2K) combat drone struck designated targets inside King Khalid Air Base near the Saudi city of Khamis Mushait, located some 884 kilometers south of the capital Riyadh, early on Wednesday, Spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces Brigadier General Yahya Saree announced in a post published on his Twitter page.

The attack, he said, was a "legitimate response" to the Riyadh regime’s devastating military campaign and crippling blockade against Yemen.

On Tuesday evening, Saudi warplanes launched an airstrike against Maraziq area in the Khabb wa ash Sha'af district of Yemen’s northern province of al-Jawf, and carried out another on al-Aqsha' area in the al-Hazm district of the same province.

Saudi fighter jets also bombarded the Sirwah district in the central Yemeni province of Ma’rib on 17 occasions, but no reports of casualties and damage were quickly available.

Saudi Arabia, backed by the US and other regional allies, launched a devastating war on Yemen in March 2015, with the goal of bringing the government of former Yemeni president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi back to power and crushing popular Ansarullah movement.

Yemeni armed forces and allied Popular Committees have, however, gone from strength to strength against the Saudi-led invaders, and left Riyadh and its allies bogged down in the country.

The Saudi-led military aggression has left hundreds of thousands of Yemenis dead, and displaced millions of people. It has also destroyed Yemen's infrastructure and spread famine and infectious diseases across the country.
