Security Exports of Israeli Regime

Saturday 22 August 2015
Security Exports of Israeli Regime

Alwaght- In its 67-year life, the Israeli regime has made significant progress in military and security dimensions. This development has encouraged some countries to establish ties with the Israeli regime on security and military matters. Israeli regime seizes the opportunity and earns huge profits. The important point is the fact that a lot of people think that this is just limited to the arms deals between Tel Aviv regime and the other parties, but it is worth mentioning that the regime makes huge profits from many other security related products other than arms deals, which also produce large profits and play an influential role in its economy. Those products in Israel are known as "security exports".

The term, "security exports" which is widely used in Israeli regime, is a category that includes four major parts: a) Security consulting of Israeli intelligence agencies such as Mossad, Shabak and Aman to military and intelligence agencies of the different countries in the world; b) Export and sales of electronic security devices and equipment; c) Purchase and sale of different types of military weapons; d) Training military and paramilitary forces, and teaching combat tactics and military strategies.

The fact that Israeli regime has become a major exporter of security products, stemmed from regime's decision made following the 1973 war. After the war, there was a major crisis in the field of arms and military supplies of the Israeli regime. Therefore, Tel Aviv decided to develop its military and security industry so that, in the first place, it can largely be independent of other states, and in second place, it can make a considerable profit from the sales of such equipment. As a result the Israeli regime has the first place among the top 10 countries of the world in the field of security exports.

Security Exports in Israel has a legal and regular administrative structure. For this purpose, there is a "Security Export Department" in the Ministry of Defense. In addition, a department called "Security Export Control" has been operating in the Ministry of Defense, since 2007 in accordance with security export control laws, with the aim of protecting the political, strategic and security interests of Israel that is said to have 30 employees.

More than 300 Israeli companies are active in the field of security exports under the Ministry of Defense. Besides, approximately 400 thousand permits are issued annually, in the name of different people, to export security products under the supervision of the Ministry of Defense. According to the Israeli regime's laws, it is prohibited to release the identity of those who are involved in security exports. According to some reports, by the end of 2012, almost 1900 permits were issued for marketing of arms, and 8716 license were issued for export of weapons and equipment. According to the same report, by the end of current year, 6784 Zionists have been doing business in security exports, and 312 businessman and independent traders were also active in this field. The Israeli army generals, especially retired ones, with the support of the Ministry of Defense and the Israeli security services, are mainly active in the field of security exports; however, some former political leaders are also doing business in this field of work. The majority of those who are in security exports, are politically affiliated to left-wing parties of the Israeli regime. During the rule of the leftist parties in Israel, especially in the era of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, the regime's security exports to countries such as Chile, Argentina, Rwanda and Bosnia and Herzegovina have been considerably high.

There is fierce competition among those who are working in the field of Israeli security exports. Government observer in Israeli security exports has recently reported that: "As a result of the competition, the average breaches in security exports are 160 cases per a year. By the same token, only small financial penalties were imposed and no license of the concerned parties are revoked." On the other hand, many former army generals who are active in security exports, do not have the required permits and usually do the business through some mediators. It is said that when the Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and defense minister Ehud Barak were in office, the mediation of generals for security exports who did not have a license, was fairly common.

The figures show that since 2008 in the Israeli regime, the value of security exports has risen from $ 3 billion to $ 8 billion. It is very effective in the economic growth of Israel. Nevertheless, it should be noted that the security exports not only have affected the regime's economy, but also they constitute one of the foundations of its foreign policy. Israel's relations with many governments in the world often are centered on security exports. Currently, South Sudan is the most important and also the most familiar country that purchases Israeli regime's security products. For this purpose, a security committee in Tel Aviv, in collaboration with the security forces of South Sudan, is responsible for pursuing this major and lucrative deal.
