Alwaght- Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei said the enemy is waging an “economic war" on Iran, but the country will defeat the enemy.
"Today the enemy is engaged in an economic war against us. Well the fact that the enemy is fighting against us is now recognized by all; the officials have understood that the enemy has initiated a war on us," the Leader made the remarks during his annual address at the shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad on Thursday on the occasion of the first day of the new Iranian year (Nowruz) of 1398.
Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out that wars are not fought only by armaments; security and intellectual war is also a type of war, and can at times be more dangerous than a military war.
Unrealistic speculations
The leader Khamenei touched on "unrealistic speculations" about threats to Iran in the New Year, dismissing them as part of the enemy's psychological war.
“I believe the year 1398, with divine grace, will be the year of opportunities, possibilities and opening - not threats,” the Leader added.
Ayatollah Khamenei touched on US sanctions, saying they are an opportunity to expose Iran's weaknesses and improve the country's administration in the coming years.
The Leader said extensive studies have already begun at the governmental, research and academic levels to find out how to run the country with non-oil revenues.
Saudi despotic regime
Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei further slammed the Saudi regime for its despotic and dependent inclinations. He said Saudi allies are providing the regime with nuclear infrastructure adding that he does not worry about Saudi Arabia’s developing nuclear plants as he predicts the fall of the Saudi regime in the near future and thus the nuclear plants will be in the hands of Islamic warriors.
New Zealand terrorist attack
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution slammed Western coverage of the Christchurch terrorist attack for their double standards and Islamophobic motives and asked: Was not the recent incident in New Zealand—which entailed the massacre of Muslims—an incident of terrorist nature in their view? The Europeans, neither the politicians nor their media, would not call it a terrorist attack. They called it an armed attack instead. Whenever there is an action against someone supported by the West, terrorism and human rights are used to oppose it. But in this case - the attack in New Zealand- they would not call it a terrorist action. They are like this.
Ayatollah Khamenei criticized the European partners of Iran's nuclear deal, the JCPOA, for having breached their commitments by not standing against the United States which withdrew from the landmark agreement.
