Russian Kalibr Cruise Missiles Hit Terrorists in Syria’s Idlib

Alwaght- A Russian submarine has destroyed several terrorists’ targets in Syria with a barrage of Kalibr cruise missiles, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

In a statement on Friday, the ministry said that the Russian Black Sea fleet’s submarine, ‘Veliky Novgorod’ launched Kalibr cruise missiles against terrorist targets in Syria, destroying missile strike destroyed strongholds, manpower, and armored vehicles, as well as the ammunition depots of the al-Nusra Front Terrorist terrorists organization in Idlib province.

“The missiles flew about 300 kilometers. According to the objective monitoring data, all the targets have been hit,” the ministry added.

The statement affirmed that the terrorists who were targeted by the Russian airstrikes had participated in al-Nusra’s attack last Tuesday, which resulted in encircling a Russian military police unit deployed in the de-escalation zone.

A special group of the Syrian and Russian Special Forces, supported by Su-25 fighter jets, successfully broke the encirclement, without human losses, while about 850 terrorists of al-Nusra Front were killed in addition to the destruction of dozens of armored vehicles, including 11 tanks.

Idlib governorate in western Syria is covered by one of four designated de-escalation zones and is controlled by a number of militant groups opposing the government of Syrian President Bashar Assad. According to media reports, over the past several months hardcore Takfiri terrorists there have been seizing power and territory from the so-called moderates.

In a relevant context, the Russian Defense Ministry said that it monitored 7 breaches of the cessation of hostilities agreement by terrorist organizations in the de-escalation zones during the past 24 hours in the countryside of Lattakia, Damascus and Daraa.
