Alwaght- Dozens of Zionist settlers backed by Israeli regime troops stormed on Sunday morning al-Aqsa Mosque—the third holiest site in Islam—via the Maghareba Gate.
63 extremist Israeli settlers, escorted by policemen, broke into al-Aqsa Mosque as part of the morning break-in shift.
Presentations on the history of the alleged temple mount were delivered by Israeli fanatics during the sacrilegious break-in.
At the same time, the peaceful Muslim worshipers have been subjected to tough crackdowns and restrictions by Tel Aviv regime's police near the main entrances to the site. Several worshipers have been searched and dozens more have had their IDs seized while attempting to enter al-Aqsa to perform their daily prayers.
Elsewhere, Islamic scholars in occupied al-Quds (Jerusalem) on Sunday called on the Palestinian people to intensify their presence at al-Aqsa Mosque next Tuesday to protect the site against expected break-ins by Israeli regime Parliament, Knesset, members.
They said in a statement that Israeli regime's decision allowing Knesset members to enter al-Aqsa Mosque is "provocative, irresponsible and legally baseless", affirming that al-Aqsa belongs to Muslims only.
The statement praised the Palestinian people, especially residents of al-Quds, for standing for al-Aqsa Mosque, and noted that Israeli regime's repeated violations and attacks will not grant them any right in the holy site
On 23rd August, Israeli regime's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approved a decision that allows Knesset members to visit al-Aqsa Mosque starting next Tuesday, and based on this visit, other new steps may be taken.
Over the past decades, the Israeli regime has tried to change the demographic makeup of al-Quds by constructing illegal settlements, destroying historical sites and expelling the local Palestinian population.
The al-Aqsa mosque, which lies in the Israeli-occupied Old City of al-Quds, is a flashpoint and is Islam’s third-holiest site after Mecca and Medina.
