Alwaght-At least 37 people have been killed and dozens injured after a car bomb attack outside bank in Afghanistan's volatile Helmand province on Thursday.
The incident has taken place close to the Kabul Bank branch in Lashkargah city, the provincial capital of Helmand.
The blast took place around 12 noon local time (08:00GMT), according to Omar Zwak, spokesperson for the provincial governor.
"Civilians and military are among the wounded. There is no report about exact number of dead," Zwak said.
Sources say the explosion took place when people, mostly security officers, had gathered outside the bank to receive salaries,
Lashkargah is situated just over 550km from Afghanistan's capital Kabul.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility but terrorist groups, including the Taliban and ISIS have in the past targeted banks where police, soldiers and other government employees collect their pay.
Last month, at least three people were killed and many wounded in an attack on a bank in the eastern city of Gardez.
Afghanistan is experiencing increased incidents of insecurity despite the presence of US-led NATO occupation forces in the country since 2001.
