ALWAGHT- The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Austria’s ambassador to Tehran in response to the summoning of Iran’s envoy to Vienna over his social media post supporting Hezbollah.
Wolfgang Dietrich Heim, Austria's ambassador to Tehran, was summoned to Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday following the Austrian Foreign Ministry's questioning of Iranian Ambassador Abbas Bagherpour regarding a social media post supporting Hezbollah's recent retaliatory strikes against Israel.
The Iranian envoy’s post featured the Hezbollah flag—banned in Austria—along with the statement “Hezbollah will win.”
In response, the director-general of the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Western Europe Department informed the Austrian ambassador that "Hezbollah is a liberation and anti-occupation resistance movement, as well as an active and influential entity in Lebanon's political system, with official representation in both the government and parliament."
The Iranian diplomat also expressed strong disapproval of the Austrian Foreign Ministry’s actions, arguing that the move contradicts the realities of the region and undermines the nature of relations between the two countries, according to the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s website.
