Iran Army Chief: Israel to Receive ’Strong, Definitive’ Response for Haniyeh Assassination

ALWAGHT- The chief commander of the Iranian Army has commended the appointment of Yahya Sinwar as the new political leader of Hamas and warned that Israel will soon face a "strong response" for the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of the Palestinian resistance movement.

Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi made his remarks on Wednesday, a day after Hamas appointed 61-year-old Yahya Sinwar as its new leader, following the targeted killing of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran last week.

Praising Sinwar as a “great combatant in the contemporary era,” Mousavi stated, “This appointment reflects the direction that Palestinian fighters and Hamas are determined to follow, ensuring that the Zionist regime has no hope for its future. God willing, we will witness the regime’s collapse.”

Emphasizing that success requires struggle and sacrifice, the Iranian Army chief asserted, “The Zionist regime will soon face a strong and decisive response, without a doubt.”

Mousavi criticized the Israeli assassination of Haniyeh, declaring, “Such actions by a criminal gang that disregards all laws, norms, beliefs, and customs reveal their own awareness of their impending downfall. These desperate measures will not save them from their inevitable fate.”
