Wall Street Journal’s coverage of the positions taken by the UAE and Saudi Arabia amid Iran’s attack on Israel

Wall Street Journal’s coverage of the positions taken by the UAE and Saudi Arabia amid Iran’s attack on Israel

ALWAGHT- The Wall Street Journal, referencing Arab officials, disclosed that Saudi Arabia and the UAE declined to grant the US and Israel access to their airspace to respond to the unprecedented Iranian attack that occurred last Saturday.

The newspaper reported that the US and Israel sought to use the airspace of Saudi Arabia and the UAE to intercept missiles and drones launched by Iran, but the two countries denied them access.

Meanwhile, Arab officials stated that Saudi Arabia and the UAE limited their involvement to sharing intelligence with the US and Israel, which is said to have helped in thwarting Iran's attacks.

The Wall Street Journal also highlights that Riyadh and Abu Dhabi have aimed to maintain a neutral stance amid the heightened conflict in the Middle East.

This report was published as informed sources speaking to Al Arabiya denied any involvement by Saudi Arabia in intercepting Iran’s missile and drone attacks on occupied Palestine.

On Monday evening, sources told Al Arabiya that no official Saudi platforms had issued statements suggesting the country's participation in intercepting Iran’s recent attacks.

Mashregh News previously reported that some Israeli news sources, citing an official Saudi news outlet, claimed that Saudi Arabia had played a role in a recent defensive alliance against Iran's attacks.

On Saturday evening, Iran responded to Israel's attack on its consulate in Damascus by launching dozens of missiles and drones towards occupied Palestine.
