Alwaght- Iran's Supreme Leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei said that Iran elections are a real example of democracy in today's world and that West uses democracy as a cover for its oppression and abuses in the world.
He hailed the last week turnout in the last weeks parliamentary election and also the celebrations of Islamic Revolution anniversary, saying that this year's election was distinctive and bore a real example of the democracy in the country.
He said the Islamic Revolution of Iran produced a new model of democracy, namely Islamic Democracy, which is, indeed, opposite to the Western democracy.
He further said that Islamic democracy that abolished the pro-Western monarchy in Iran in 1979 jeopardized the interests of the Western liberal camp and that is why the West is opposed to it despite presenting a true model of honoring the human rights.
"The reason for their feeling of danger and conflict was that in the essence of the Western democracy system, there is arrogance and violation of the rights of nations and warmongering and unlimited bloodshed to gain power, as evidenced by the colonization of many countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America in the 19th century... This was at the peak period of their slogans and claims of democracy, freedom and human rights," he told the members of the Assembly of Experts of Leadership.
He pointed to the opposition to oppression and abuse as the key element of the Islamic democracy model that was introduced by Iran’s revolution of 1979.
He explained why the Islamic Republic opposes the imperialist camp, adding: "We have no conflict with the nations and people. Rather, our opposition is with oppression and abuse that lies deep inside the Western democracy."
He further maintained that Gaza catastrophe caused by the Israeli war is the clearest example of the Western liberalism' oppression and violation of human rights as Western countries unwaveringly back Israeli regime.
"The opposition of the Islamic Republic is, in fact, the opposition to such atrocities and crimes, which are supported by America, England and some European countries, despite the fact that they are condemned by every human conscience, logic, and common sense.
He said that the world should be informed of the fact that the imperialism conceals oppression, abuse, and massacre under the cover of democracy, Human rights, and liberalism.
He hailed Iran as the forerunner of anti-imperialism, adding that "we should raise the flag of fighting against arrogance higher and higher every day and never allow this flag to be taken from the Islamic Republic.
