ALWAGHT- Maduro denounces the joint military exercises between the US and Trinidad and Tobago as “irresponsible.”
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro condemned the joint US-Trinidad and Tobago military exercises, calling them “irresponsible” and threatening to Venezuela. Speaking in Caracas, he urged citizens in eastern states to hold vigils and street marches during the maneuvers scheduled for November 16–21. This marks the second joint exercise between the US and Trinidad and Tobago in less than a month.
Maduro accused the US of trying to spark “a new eternal war” against Venezuela to replace its leftist government with a pro-Washington regime. He denounced the presence of US Navy destroyers near Venezuelan waters as a “hostile provocation” and a serious threat to Caribbean peace, rejecting Washington’s claims that the deployments target drug gangs.
While US media has suggested American forces could strike targets inside Venezuela, former President Trump denied plans for attacks on the country. However, he acknowledged previously considering CIA covert operations and possible military action aimed at regime change, contradicting his public statements.
