Two More Journalists Killed by Israeli Forces in Gaza, Bringing Total Deaths To 231

ALWAGHT- According to local sources, Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have claimed the lives of two more Palestinian journalists, raising the death toll to 231 since the onset of hostilities in early October 2023.

Two Palestinian journalists, Hussam al-Adlouni and Fadi Khalifa, were killed in separate Israeli airstrikes in Gaza, according to medical sources and the WAFA news agency. Al-Adlouni, along with his wife and three children, died when Israeli forces struck a tent camp for displaced people in al-Mawasi, a zone previously declared "safe" by the Israeli military. Khalifa was killed while inspecting his bombed home in al-Zeitoun, southeast of Gaza City. The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate condemned the attacks as part of a broader effort by Israel to silence the press.

The Syndicate accused Israel of deliberately targeting journalists and media institutions in violation of international laws meant to protect press workers during armed conflict. Journalists in Gaza have sought refuge and connectivity in hospitals like Nasser Hospital, despite the risks, and media rights organizations warn they are being deliberately targeted to suppress coverage of alleged war crimes and prevent international accountability.

Since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, more than 58,000 Palestinians—mostly women and children—have been killed and over 138,000 injured. The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity. Separately, the International Court of Justice is reviewing a genocide case against Israel related to its actions in Gaza.
