Trump Victory Was US Political System Rejection: Pundit

A US vote for the republican nominee, Donald Trump was in fact a rejection of political system in the country

Alwaght- A US vote for the republican nominee Donald Trump was in fact a rejection of political system in the country, a Pakistani pundit told Turkish Anadulo news agency.

"This vote was not against Hillary Clinton, it was against the system itself," said Anis Ahmad, vice chancellor of Riphah International University.

Referring to Trump remarks that described US system as corrupted, the scholar said the vote was a reaction to the inability of such corrupted system to fight the problems. He said "Because of local problems, and lack of confidence in the system, the votes were against the system, not against any party. That’s understood very clearly."

Ahmad attributed Donald Trump’s victory in the presidential election over Clinton to a lack of confidence in the system, adding, “So Trump’s success is not an essential success of one person or the other".

He added, “If he is able to change the system, he will become a hero [even] with all his background of foolishness."

He continued, “Americans by nature are very introverted persons, they are more concerned about their own issues. Not about what’s happening in Palestine, Kashmir, and Turkey, so their local economic issues, local problems always get priority."

On Pakistan-US relations, Ahmad said, “Pakistan is a need for the US, there is no other way. Pakistan is placed in a strategic position where other neighboring countries can be easily looked into, and their [US] problems can be solved through this."

“Unless the US has good relations with Pakistan, they cannot successfully implement their policy in their region. Pakistani relations with the U.S. have to remain good if Americans want to protect their interests,” he argued.

Presidential candidate Donald Trump gained an unexpected victory over his democratic rival, Hilary Clinton in the recent US presidential elections and will enter the white house in nearly 70 days.
