Alwaght- Syrian army has managed to gain control over a strategic hilltop in the northern Aleppo city, state-run SANA news agency reported on Monday.

The news agency cited some military sources as saying that the army has liberated the Bazo hilltop on the southern edge of Aleppo.

Sources said after the government forces captured Bazo, they shelled the nearby militant positions.

Syrian Arab Army also released a footage of the hilltop showing their tanks and soldiers pounding terrorists and militant groups in the region.

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) also confirmed that government troops have captured a strategic high ground in the militant-held parts of Aleppo.

Terrorists groups on the other hand shelled residential areas on the western Aleppo which is under government control, killing one person and injuring seven others.

Clashes between Syrian government forces and militants erupted in the divided city of Aleppo after a unilateral ceasefire announced by the Syrian government came to an end.

Aleppo has been divided between government forces in the west and the terrorists and militant groups in the east over the past few years.
