Alwaght- Syrian Foreign Minister is scheduled to visit his Russian counterpart during a trip to Moscow, Russian officials said on Monday.
The Russian foreign ministry says they will host the Syrian foreign minister, Walid al-Muallem in the coming days for negotiations on developments in Syria.
"Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem's visit to Moscow and his talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov are expected on October 28,” Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov said.
Muallem will be the first Syrian official to meet Moscow after a western rhetorical began last month blaming Russia for the ongoing war in the country.
It could be a sign of more solid Russian support for the government of President Bashar Assad in its war against terrorist and militant groups that hit the country in 2011.
On a request by Damascus, Moscow is providing air support for the Syrian national army in the war especially in the latest offensive to liberate the northern city of Aleppo that has been divided between government and militant groups.
Russia has also accused the West of obstructing a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Syria, saying militant groups backed by the United States and its regional allies have repeatedly violated initiatives for the cessation of hostilities in the Arab country.
