Alwaght- Iraqi army requested civilians in Mosul to raise white flags to prevent unwanted casualties during the upcoming operation against ISIS.

The military commander of Iraqi Nineveh province asked all civilians to raise white flags on the top of their homes to avoid being mistakenly targeted by security forces. The Iraqi military is about to begin an operation to withdraw ISIS terrorist from Mosul, the second-largest city in the north of Iraq, in the coming days.

Major General Najim al-Jabouri said the white flags will guide the security forced toward ISIS positions when the operation begins.

The Commander also advised the civilians in Mosul to stay in their homes during operation.

ISIS terrorist group took control over Mosul and some parts of Nineveh province in 2014; however Iraqi army backed by Popular Mobilization Forces and other volunteer troops have recently managed to pull them back from most parts. Mosul is the second largest city of Iraq.

General Najim al-Jabouri, the Commander of Nineveh Operations, in a statement to al-Mada news outlet on Frieday, also called on all the people in Mosul to rise up against the ISIS terrorists.

He thanked Qayyarah locals for their help in military operations against ISIS and asked those in Mosul to play a similar role.
